We've noticed that there's been a big increase in the number of one-word responses in various threads recently. It could be that some of you are accustomed to communicating this way when you use Instant Messaging.

But this is a message board. It is relatively slow-moving. We don't need to talk the way that we do on the phone, or when we text-message. The more posts we have that have no useful information in them, the more cluttered that our board gets. If we get too many posts, then it's harder to use our search engine with any success, because it will only search back for 200 posts.

We also end up having to delete those threads that have nothing of substance in them, because there's no use archiving for long-term the one-word posts, only to reach our limit of posts allowed, and then have Hostboard do pruning for us and possibly delete some kind of useful information that our members could have used. So, we're asking you to help us keep our board working well, and to not respond if you just have a one-word response.

Thanks,
